History of Glossop Parish Church
Glossop Parish
Church is the oldest church in Glossop dating back to Norman times
and following High Church, Anglo-Catholic ways of worship although
updated in many ways.
The present building is less than 100 years old and reflects a
traditional Church of England. It has three altars; High, with a
fine reredos, Memorial - the old high altar and the Lady altar.
There are traditional choir stalls and seating on chairs for the
congregation.
The font is
made of Carara marble and dates from 1898. The Church has an open
baptism policy and welcomes all to become Church members.
A team of eight bell ringers toll the eight bells and the team
are always keen to recruit new members! Music is provided by a fine
pipe organ. Read more about Jack Pickford,
our Director of Music, and our organ here.
